Prerequisites: Prior or current enrollment in First Principles of Instruction: Lecture is required. 

The First Principles of Instruction courses utilize the five pillars of Dr. Merrill's theory to help build effective learning solutions that promote education through problem-solving.  The Professional Studio class is for students who wish to apply what is taught in the lecture series to real projects while benefiting from the mentorship of Dr. David Merrill. 

Mentorship Experience: 

Take your skills and understanding of theory to the next level. In our professional studio sessions, You will be given specific design assignments to incrementally implement these principles in your own instructional module or course. He will then have a virtual meeting with you for each assignment to provide collaboration and critique. These studio sessions will also enable you to share your work with other students in this studio part of the course.

Format: Individual coaching with bi-weekly synchronous sessions to meet with fellow students & Dr. Merrill.  

Duration: 12 hours total (6 x 120-minute instructor-led sessions)

Technical requirements:  Online instructor-led sessions are conducted via webinar on the Zoom platform. (View Zoom's system requirements here.) You will need a good enough internet connection to view your instructor's shared screen and to access examples of online interactivity.
