First Principles of Instruction: Lecture + Studio
These courses utilize the five pillars of Dr. Merrill's theory to help build effective learning solutions that promote education through problem-solving. Apply what you learn in the lecture series to real projects while benefiting from the mentorship of Dr. David Merrill.
This series of lectures will use a progression of short courses in a variety of content areas that illustrate these principles and will explain how you can design appropriate instructional events and instructional strategies for your own instruction.
Take your skills and understanding of theory to the next level. In our professional studio sessions, You will be given specific design assignments to incrementally implement these principles in your own instructional module or course. He will then have a virtual meeting with you for each assignment to provide collaboration and critique. These studio sessions will also enable you to share your work with other students in this studio part of the course.
